, a leading provider of innovative water gardening and pond products, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team.
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the procurement and sourcing of product through established overseas and domestic suppliers, as well as the negotiation of pricing and terms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inventory management by reviewing inventory levels, sales trends and seasonality in order to maintain required inventory levels Manage inventory at various locations to ensure that all warehouses are at adequate inventory levels for all SKUs Create purchase orders Make recommendations for optimal stocking levels Ability to interpret demand reports while proactively reacting to changes in demand Collaborate with other departments to determine inventory needs for new products and/or new customers Negotiate price and terms with established vendors Ability to analyze supplier quotations Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices Negotiate agreements with suppliers, such as product delivery dates Evaluate and monitor purchase agreements to ensure that vendors and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the agreement and to determine the need for changes Track open supply orders to ensure supplies are delivered on time Schedule meetings with vendors to discuss upcoming orders Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed Monitor suppliers abilities to deliver required product with on-time delivery Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories Monitor and obtain timely corrective action responses from suppliers for nonconformance issues Track and communicate price increases and cost savings targets to achieve sustainable cost reductions for managed spend Interview and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers, potentially including international travel Collaborate with the product development team to source new vendors for products, as needed Meet with internal resources and/or vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods and determine corrective action Optimize freight, including shipping logistics Oversee duty drawback submissions Required Education & Experience 2
years purchasing experience, preferably in durable goods Experience in developing strong partnerships with internal customers and the supply base Experience bringing inventory into multiple warehouse locations Experience with ordering factory direct Proven track record of successfully negotiating price and terms with vendors Ability to confidently interact and communicate effectively, both written and verbally Demonstrated planning, forecasting, analytical, organizational and project management skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook Excellent organizational skills Preferred Education & Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience Experience with overseas vendors, import and export Knowledge of duties and tariffs Job Type:
